MISS MONOCHROME – FANTASIES OF ZARA.

It has to be said that Zara is by far my favourite high street brand, I love its high end quality fabrics and cut with the lower end price tag. I first discovered Zara when I was 13 on a family holiday to Spain. While the rest of my family were spending the hot days on the beach, I was spending the days in Zara and Mango.

Anyone that knows me well will know that I absolutely love black & white, I would in fact go as far to say that I have a sartorial crush on anything monochrome. This is born from my ultimate love of the 60s period and of course Gwen Stefani’s Sweet Escape era…

This new season of clothing goodies from Zara then is to my perfection. Zara have unveiled a collection of black & white pieces, all in a beauuuuutifully affordable price range and all wearable, covetable and just plain gorgeous. In true Zara fashion, it’s proven that the classically pared down approach to the trend is the way forward. The pieces all have a borderline masculine/feminine 60s vibe and because of this, these are pieces that will never date, go with anything, be dressed up and down and will always stay in fashion. My particular favourites are the paneled cropped trousers, the leather peplum top, leopard clutch and the leather drawstring shorts. These are items that are modern takes on classic styles, either switched up with the colour placement or fabric.

Here are a few examples of items in the Zara collection…

This season’s catwalks saw a lot of monochrome, most notably at Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton whose strong 60s take on monochrome chic has been widely publicised and will no doubt be heavily duplicated by high street brands for Spring.
