STRIPED FASCINATION

Stripes are my thing. Preferably in classic black and white, but I’ll welcome them anywhere be it an item of clothing or accessory (or 4), but I do think that stripes can take on a whole new world of their own when styled as an interior focal-point. All photos are, of course, from Pinterest. Follow me here.

STYLE OBSESSION – WEDGE TRAINERS

I know they’ve been around for ages, I’ve owned a pair now for about six months, but trainers with a hidden heel are the absolute dog’s bollocks. Pardon my French but they are just so practical, wearable, comfortable and strangly chic. My mum was soon on the case, purchasing a black pair contrasting to my pair in beige and she fell in love too. As with most things my mum buys, I coveted them and they are now my adopted babies… They haven’t quite made it to live in my wardrobe just yet, but mark my words it’s all in due course my friends, all in due course.

I went shopping this weekend, after deciding that I can no longer spend (I know, I know) and to satisfy my craving for a heeled trainer, I went halfs with my heart and my head and opted for a pair from ye old fathful Primark, or Primarni as I like to call it. This excursion resulted in a studded camouflage pair with a slightly higher heel than the one’s I’ve been sporting but I thought “they’ll do nicely for Spring and Summer” and my bank balance rapidly decreased by £20. I know £20 doesn’t sound like a lot but I’m going to uni in September and I’m supposed to be saving. And then when you consider my habit of buying new makeup every week and not even cheap makeup at that, £20 for a pair of trainers that I don’t really need is a bit of an expenditure.

Nevertheless, I am delighted with this invention, even if I am way out of the time frame for writing a blog post about the Isabel Marant-sourced craze, but still, I got there in the end.

VIKTOR&ROLF: A/W 2013

Monochrome is back for fall! You have no idea how much I am revelling in this. To be brutally honest with you though, I will probably be rocking the monochrome “trend” every single season until I am six feet under. I love it that much. But knowing that it’s “fashionably acceptable” to be sporting the two-tone trend makes it even more exciting. And yes, it is exciting. Take the Viktor & Rolf show pictured here; Three different ways of wearing black and white in one collection. The flirty, girly mini mini itsy-bitsy-with-an-edge dress, oversized bow included; the preppy chic monochrome style and the rock chick androgyny of a printed tailored suit.

LOVE.
