SHOWING LOVE FOR CAMBRIDGE

With such uncharacteristically gorgeous weather here in the UK over the past few days, (although as I write this I can see some angry clouds looming) I decided to go for a walk around my hometown, Cambridge, and take some photos. Whenever I’m in Cambridge I mainly head straight to Zara-H&M-Costa-Topshop-AllSaints-Boots-MAC and then probably head home (after one more peep in Zara, just one more) but this time I decided to actually stop and look around me.
I see these buildings all the time and yet I don’t actually see them. Cambridge is, in actual fact, a really beautiful place and I thought I would share some photos here.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA A/W14

There was a surprisingly edgy twist to Oscar de la Renta’s Fall show yesterday at New York Fashion Week. His use of leather, mesh and lace were in full swing creating a fresh take on dlR’s elegant cuts and shapes. I particularly loved the layered leather dress with long sleeves paired with the red T-bar pointed courts, such modern elegance. The short hair and simplistic makeup also gave a good contrast to the fresh modern take on the ever-present ball gowns.

THOM BROWNE A/W14

Now this is the kind of theatrics that I miss from fashion week. Overexaggerated everything, fabrics to die for and hair and makeup fit for a queen (Elizabeth I would be proud). With the church as inspiration, the intricacies of the cuts showing pure craftsmanship, Brown has taken his detailing to religious new heights, both in literal and physical senses.

RACHEL ROY A/W14

First of all I’d just like to say that royal/electric blue is my favourite colour at the moment. This therefore means that you must be warned that I will love anything in those hues. Having said that, I don’t think my judgement is clouded when it comes to Rachel Roy’s latest collection for Fall. Yes, she has used my favourite colour (can we just spare a moment to fawn over those gloves?!!) but I am absolutely loving the lace inserts and paneling in this collection. Roy has somehow managed to make tweed and lace edgy by pairing them with metallic leathers and unfinished trims.

PRABAL GURUNG A/W14

Deconstructed tailored suits paired with almost sportswear-esque jersey, silk and feathers in a mashed-up collection of loveliness was what Prabal Gurung offered us to wear for Fall 2014 and who wouldn’t want to partake? I’m really liking the complicated shapes and over exaggerated lines that he’s created using his deconstruction techniques. All of this paired with simple hair and makeup and shoes sets everything in motion for a glamorously casual Fall.

NICOLE MILLER A/W14

I’m loving the tough-girl-with-a-twist theme coming from Nicole Miller’s show this season. The all black colour palette with vibrant accents of prints with peacock elements gave a subtle contrast to the textures that included leathers, studs, chains and fur. The hair and makeup contrast also worked well with the strong eyes and contoured cheekbones paired with the softness of loosely pinned up hair. Warrior girl next door was the girl of the moment.

Now this is the kind of look I love. Cool, but not overly cool. The unconventional tailoring paired with wells and shorn black wigs gives off the kind of vibe that I would want to give off every day. Every single piece in this collection is easy to wear, comfortable, beautifully made and definitely cool. It’s cool okay? I want to be this cool.

PHOTOS: MY HOLIDAY IN ALCUDIA.

I had such a fab time in Alcudia, Majorca that I thought I’d share my Instagram photos on here! I stayed at the Hotel Maritimo in Playa de Muro which I would highly recommend if you are looking on going for a relaxing break there. The hotel was great, food was amazing and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful or attentive.

Here’s a small collage of photos from my week in Alcudia, 27th June – 4th July. I’ll do another post on the things I bought whilst I was there!

WATCHES BY KATE SPADE.

Being late is sometimes deemed fashionable, other times plain rude. But with these Kate Spade watches you can be both fashionable and on time. I came across one Kate Spade watch in a street style snap on Pinterest and googled Kate Spade watches and lo and behold, they’re all fabulous. For some reason the faces of the watches remind me of a sweet shop (or candy store), very cute and girly, but not to OTT or showy. Here’s a selection of my favourites…

Aren’t they darling? I think they’re perfect! I especially love the black and white ones, just takes your armwear up to a whole new level!
