NEW IN: GLOVE LOVE

It’s the weekend that the retail industry baits its breath for. It’s the typically American tradition that has somehow seeped into the realms of the UK retail trade whereby the whole country is on shopping standby for the weekend whilst eager shoppers take advantage of the one-weekend-only sales. I was one of said shoppers, I’m not ashamed to admit. Whilst my shopping excursion was a whistle-stop tour of “the main part” of Covent Garden (I only went into one shop… Yay for my non-resistance!) I did however spend a rather inordinate amount of money on a pair of gloves.

It has to be said though, that I have had my eye on these supple beauties from Kurt Geiger for a while now. Three months to be exact. And whilst some may say that spending £60 on a pair of gloves is ludicrous, I on the other hand, wave two fingers (two leather-clad fingers, might I add) up in the air and declare an investment has been made. Yes, they were £60. But they would have been £80, thanks to the eager sales assistants shoving 25% discount vouchers in everyone’s faces upon entering the shop.

Woollen gloves never go out of style. Neither do leather gloves. Combined, KG are onto something. Expensive or not, they will go with anything and get better with age. And for the record, I wore them all the way home and my hands were not even the slightest hint of chilly. I win.

WINTER WISHLIST

I know I know. It’s June, I get it. But I just couldn’t help absolutely fawning over this peacoat from Belstaff at Net-A-Porter. It’s absolutely bleedin’ gawgus. I’ve decided to blog about this coat because I’ll never be able to afford the £895 bill, I’ll just admire it from afar with tear-stained cheeks while I wear my Primark togs. Okay, perhaps I’m exaggerating (slightly). Well perhaps not Primark but definitely something about £800 cheaper than this beauty.

I just adore the modern take on the classic shape of the peacoat with the zips and shoulder and elbow detailing, it’ll last forever and be in style for eternity. Now, where is my lottery ticket?

WANT.

If you follow me on Instagram (if not, WHY NOT? You’re seriously missing out… @_hannahstocking) you’ll know that I posted a slightly stalkerish photo of a woman I saw in Homebase the other day looking absolutely FAB-U-LOUS. She was who I want to be in the future, impeccably dressed, ever so glam but with an air of “Oh this old thing? I just threw it on!” about her and I love it! She wore everything she had on, nothing wore her which is what I loved about it, she definitely seemed to have her own refined style. (pic below)

Anyway, I loved what she was wearing so much that I decided I wanted a mac like hers… I have a sneaky suspicion that hers is from Zara, although the way she carries it off it could easily be Aquascutum. Now, I actually already have a mac in the slightly darker tone like hers (I keep saying “hers” and feel rude that I’m not using a name… But then I’d feel weird making one up, non?) but I really love the style of it. It’s more effortless than my more tailored one, more “thrown on, but look how chic I am” one. Soooooooo…. Thanks to my wonderful friend Zara (the shop, I don’t actually have a friend called Zara) I’ve found one! I still need to somehow figure out a way to justify buying it, but I’m sure it won’t be long before I can think of a good enough reason. After all, I have no self control when it comes to spending money which should be saved…

Looking at both macs closer, the Zara one looks a LOT like the lovely Homebase lady’s one doesn’t it? I wish I could see the pockets on her one though… The mac does come in a darker shade exactly like hers but I think I prefer the lighter one in this style.

So who knows if I’ll end up buying it, *cough* it’s-my-birthday-on-the-26th-June *cough-cough-cough*. Ooh I seem to have a tickly throat… I shall keep you posted!
