A ‘GLOW’ PRODUCT THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU OILY?!

Everyone always talks about ‘glowing’. How to get a ‘glow’. Foundations that make you ‘glow’. Get ‘glowing’ skin.

But if I’m honest, as a girl with really oily skin, I can’t think of anything worse that having an intentional ‘glow’. Until now. When I swatched the KIKO Glowing Potion Perfecting Serum in the shop, it seemed different to any other ‘glowy’ primer/serum/base that I’d tried before. It offers a glow, without being too dewy or slick. It really dries down quickly without leaving any feeling of tackiness or slip.

I use it as a primer, on top of my skincare, but underneath my foundation, and I can honestly say I haven’t noticed any difference in the longevity of my matte complexion throughout the day. My skin stays matte with just a slight luminous sheen on my temples and on top of my cheekbones. I don’t tend to use it across my forehead or down my nose as I tend to get oily here pretty quickly anyway. It’s great for someone who might find certain matte foundations a bit too matte, it really does just lift the complexion.

The packaging is cute, a slim frosted glass bottle with a really handy pump and rose gold lid – doesn’t that just sound dreamy? At £13.90 for 30ml of product I guess it’s not the cheapest, however it is a whole lot cheaper than some other products that I’ve tried and hated. Definitely a recommendation from me if you have skin that’s on the oilier side.

MY FAVOURITE PRODUCT FROM KIKO

I’m not someone who likes to spend ages and ages in the morning getting ready. I’m sure my family will disagree and say that I take an age to get out of the door, however I can be up and out the door in around 30 mins, which I think is pretty good (no?). Part of the get-up-and-go process does include a full face of makeup, and I wouldn’t be without my KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyshadow.

They go on easily, blend easily, make your face look polished and STAY ALL DAY. Shown here are my first 5 shades, however I do now own 10 of them – I just love them THAT much. I also own the high-end version of these stick eyeshadows, the By Terry Ombre Blackstar, but I prefer the KIKO ones by far.

First of all, let’s talk price. KIKO – £6.90, By Terry – £30. EACH. Okay, so maybe the By Terry has more product inside? Nope, KIKO contains 1.64g of product compared to By Terry’s 1.2g. Go figure. Performance? They both perform about the same, in my opinion, however I much prefer the colour range of the KIKO ones over the By Terry shadow sticks.

My favourite shade in the range is definitely 05. I’m almost out as I use it everyday. It’s possible that it is my most-used makeup product ever, even more so than any foundation. The bronze-y warm tone really suits my green eyes and looks just as great on its own as it does with a full-on ‘look’. The wearability knows no bounds.

I can’t rave about this product enough, I use them everyday, have them in 10 shades and would buy 10 more. If they ever discontinued these, I’d have to go into mourning… Seriously.

BAD SHOPPING EXPERIENCES!

Before I formally start this I’m going to say please read my last post. It was all about my purchases from Inglot in Cambridge and I absolutely love what I bought. While I do love the brand, I have one thing to complain about in terms of the store: The staff and customer service. I wasn’t happy with the fact that being the only customer in the store at the time, the two sales assistants were standing around the shop speaking in Polish as I was choosing my colours for my Freedom System… I considered this to be extremely rude, no? When I finished finding my colours, I then had to interrupt THEM to tell one of them that I’d finished and that I’d like to pay. I, being the paying customer and ONLY customer in the store, shouldn’t have had to be the one to feel like I was interrupting anything! I feel slightly outraged actually. When I got home, I decided to email Inglot saying that as much as I love the brand, and I really do, and how happy I was with my purchases, I found the staff to be rude enough to be speaking in another language in front of me. That email was sent on May 12th and I am yet to receive a reply… I’m not holding my breath. Below is a copy of the exact email I sent:

Dear Sir/Madam,  I am writing as a loyal customer and genuine fan of Inglot with regards to my recent excursion to the Cambridge branch where I was excited to finally visit my favourite makeup brand’s store for the first time. After previously purchasing products online, I was eager to visit the store in person. While I was thrilled with the actual shop; the testers were clean, surfaces shiny and staff available to help; I also found that on one occasion while choosing eyeshadows that I was slightly put off. This was due to the staff seeming vacant when I was the only customer in the store as the two shop assistants were huddled together speaking Polish, of which I could not understand. While I’m sure they were talking about work (they were both pointing at lipsticks), as the only customer in the newly opened store at the time, I felt alienated as a paying customer. At one point, I needed assistance with choosing my colours for my freedom system palette but I felt, bizarrely, like I was interrupting THEM. While I did make a purchase and very happily so, I still feel like I would be more comfortable purchasing my favourite items online rather than visiting the store after the way I felt.  Anticipating your kind response.

The fact that I haven’t even received a reply to my email is bugging me, I expected a lot more from the customer service of Inglot, it has to be said. I am disappointed in the brand after experiencing this, not enough to put me off shopping there, but it will make me view the company in a different light.
