Other-worldy beauty, futuristic fantasies, tantalising technology, the Iris Van Herpen Spring Couture 2013 show embodied everything that 2013 portrays: Moving into new beginnings, jumping to the future, leaving behind the end of the world and entering into a new one. It is these aesthetics that must’ve attracted Van Herpen fan Lady Gaga into wearing her clothes. Severely shaped, with show-stopping allure just completely encaptures the fierce beauty within each of us. For me, this collection shows another side of a woman’s personality. You can have a fairytale princess side of you in the shape of an Elie Saab gown, and you can have a fierce, go-getting, I don’t give an F side of you in the shape of an Iris Van Herpen number. Yes ma’am.
Fairytale princess meets Hollywood glamour, isn’t this how every girly girl with a taste for anything fabulous wants to feel? Elie Saab provides just that, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Without fail, every Saab collection makes me drift off into fantasy land, into a world of glitz, allure and razzle-dazzle. It wouldn’t be untrue if I said that when I first laid my eyes on the photos from the Elie Saab Spring Couture 2013 show, is made my heart flutter and brought a tear to my eye, no exaggeration. I am the kind of eager fashion-follower where for the most part, when feasting my eyes through collections, I can’t wait for the gowns in the finale… Couture shows, and Elie Saab, are just heaven-sent for Hannah. Couture is EVERYTHING. I wonder what it feels like to wear Elie Saab? To walk, no WALTZ, into a room looking like divinity itself while sparkling like a diamond in the not-so rough. Just feast your eyes on these… For the record, I couldn’t choose just a few photos from the collection, so here’s a few more for your enjoyment.
The daydreaming drama queen in me says that the couture shows are my favourite shows of the entire year, and the rest of me isn’t going to disagree. With what feels like all the pomp and circumstance of the couture season, the excitement is tangible, even through my small-time fashion eyes. As you may (or may not) have noticed, I haven’t blogged in the past few days mainly because I’ve been so exhausted with work that I just haven’t had the energy to, which is extremely annoying for me because I’ve so wanted to write my posts about the EXQUISITE couture collections this season! Tomorrow is Friday and I’m vowing to myself and to you that I WILL (I will!!!) stay up late and blog about the glitz and finery of the past week… Elie Saab made me cry.
Come back tomorrow for photos and my reviews from the couture shows!!
