SHOWING LOVE FOR CAMBRIDGE

With such uncharacteristically gorgeous weather here in the UK over the past few days, (although as I write this I can see some angry clouds looming) I decided to go for a walk around my hometown, Cambridge, and take some photos. Whenever I’m in Cambridge I mainly head straight to Zara-H&M-Costa-Topshop-AllSaints-Boots-MAC and then probably head home (after one more peep in Zara, just one more) but this time I decided to actually stop and look around me.
I see these buildings all the time and yet I don’t actually see them. Cambridge is, in actual fact, a really beautiful place and I thought I would share some photos here.

MY SPRING/SUMMER WISHLIST

Summer is here (although the grey clouds and low temperatures here in England suggest otherwise) which means it’s time to revamp our Winter wardrobes – If you live in most other countries you would’ve done this months ago, but this is the land where Spring and Autumn do not exist; the months simply seem to have no definition. Below are my top picks for Spring and Summer – I am absolutely loving the new collection from & Other Stories, I want every single piece!

SPRING SUMMER WISHLIST

MEETING SUE KREITZMAN

I am currently studying Fashion Journalism at uni and we were recently given an assignment to make a 3-minute film on anything we wanted. A first this idea seemed daunting as it meant actually thinking of something to create the film on, being given such a broad subject can actually be harder than you first think… As a group, we decided to create our film around TV chef and artist Sue Kreitzman, who was also one of the stars from the hugely successful Channel 4 documentary “Fabulous Fashionistas”, whose colourful aesthetic and equally as bright personality made our film a joy to create. There is a link at the bottom of this post for you to view the film!

We met Sue at her exhibition in Cult Mountain, Bethnal Green just before she was due to go back to New York, to talk to her about her life, her work and her philosophies. She is such a wonderful character and it is a joy to have worked with her. Below are photos from around the gallery, which is unfortunately no longer exhibiting Sue’s work.

TEX SAVERIO A/W14 PARIS FASHION WEEK

DSC_0113

I attended the Tex Saverio show in Paris on Tuesday after what felt like a million hours of travelling, but boy what a day it turned out to be. After waking up at 5am to catch a train, tube and finally the Eurostar, we arrived in Paris. First stop, the nearest café to the Gare du Nord we could find to eat as many crépes au sucre we could manage.

After much discussion in poor broken French with a taxi driver, we finally established where we wanted to be, the show’s venue the Automobile Club de France on the Place de la Concorde, just a short walk from the Champs Elysées. The show started at 2pm local time and was just as enchanting as was expected from a Tex Saverio collection. The only difference for me was being able to see it up close and be able to capture, first hand, the intricate detailing and shimmering fabrics Saverio is known for.

With a palette strictly of black and gold, the collection consisted of the use of rich decadent fabrics detailed with intricate bedding a laser-cut detailing. The ornate head pieces glittered under the spotlights, an aspect which cannot be transcribed through photos, as with the glittering gowns.

Hair and makeup was kept simple and pared back, letting the clothing speak for themselves. The 7-inch platform shoes with backwards-curved heels added another other-wordly quality, much reminiscent of McQueen. This being Saverio’s second ready-to-wear collection, I think it definitely seals his place on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, proof of what a success he is as an up-and-coming designer and a true sign of his accomplishments to come.

SPANGLE.

DSC_0038

Following on from my post last night showcasing those goooooorgeous necklaces from Pinterest I felt inspired as I got dressed this morning. I have on my H&M coin necklace (underneath) and my Zara necklace (also the one everyone raved about because a certain Kate Middleton wore it, yawn.). Both are available to buy now both online and in stores.

AFTERNOON CHILL.

February in its true form has arrived in Britain in the form of the weather. Outside is next to miserable so I’ve chosen to stay indoors cozied up with an endless stream of trashy TV courtesy of Netflix, some interiors magazines and, of course, Pinterest. All I need now is for Starbucks to offer a delivery service and I won’t need to leave my room for at least the next four months.

CALM AFTER THE STORM

With my whole day of lectures and seminar cancelled due to INSANE weather conditions, I decided to wander around the park in Epsom today with my new camera and my new cape (blog post coming later on that gem). Probably looked a bit like the kidnapper in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in all black errthang with a cape and a camera. But let’s not dwell on my suspiciously weirdo-like attire and focus on the main point of why I was strolling trekking through my local park. Because of the ridiculous and rather obnoxious storms of yesterday, I was unable to go out and take photos of the Autumnal scenery of Epsom. Okay, I’m making it sound a lot more fluffy that it is. It’s a park with some trees and a pond and ducks, K? K.
