THE PALE SKIN GIRL’S CONTOURING BEST FRIEND

Contouring the face can be a daunting process in the application of makeup for many people. “Will I have a chiselled complexion or look like a muddy disaster?” is usually my thought process every morning when sweeping that matte bronzer underneath my wannabe carved-out cheekbones. Contouring gets that much more difficult for us pale gals, bronzers are too orange, traditional contour shades are too dark, or too brown, or still too orange and never ashy enough. Until now. I think I may have found my holy grail contour shade. Girls, meet Hollow.
DSC_0078DSC_0083I know I’m not the first blogger to talk about Illamasqua’s Hollow (by far) but after procrastinating one evening when I should have been doing research for my dissertation, I came across many, many bloggers raving about Hollow as a contour shade. I was sceptical at first, cream face products have never appealed to me – I’m always scared I’ll apply too much and end up looking like I was just in a bad car accident.
DSC_0081Officially labelled as a ‘cream pigment’, the product can be used anywhere – as a base for eyeshadow, on the lips, face or body. The shade Hollow is the perfect amount of cool tone and not too strong to add the perfect amount of shade to particular areas of the face, without coming off too “done”. Now, I’m not professing to be a makeup artist here – all I know is what I’ve read on blogs, seen on YouTube and tried on my own face, but from personal experience I’ve never come across a contouring product that is SO suited to pale skinned girls. Both subtle and effective, you’ll go a long way to find another product that matches Hollow.

PRINTED JEANS MANIA!

Printed jeans have become such a huge deal over the past few seasons and right now the trend is at it’s peak. The thing about jeans in general is that they are such a staple in (almost) anyone’s wardrobe (Daphne Guinness aside) and oh-so easily accessible. As for printed jeans, both the high street and high end market have some amazing versions, most of which will suit anyone with an ounce of flair. My own collection of printed jeans is in itself, extensive, and they’re always great conversation starters from people who love them, people who hate them and people who “don’t get” them. I for one love them, and for what my opinion is worth, feel that printed jeans will always be fab. Rest assured, I’ll be rocking printed skinnies when I’m in my 60s.

I tried to find my favourite 10 pairs of printed jeans on the internet and finally found them, after much umming and erring over deciding which ones to include (as there are easily about 76 pairs I could’ve chosen). I’ll put links in the captions so you can go ahead and purchase them too!

So there is my top 10 favourite printed jeans! I apologize that they’re all in a big looooooooong column, WordPress was playing silly beggars with me. The thrill about printed jeans is that they can be dressed up with heels and a blazer and tons of jewelery, dressed down in the winter with biker boots, thick socks and a scarf or thrown on in the summer with the cuffs rolled up and a pair of Havaianas.

Let me know where you stand on printed jeans! Which ones are your favourites?

WEEKEND OF WOOOOOOOO’S

So I had a crazy busy weekend. Saturday I was in Birmingham for The Mrs Carter Show World Tour starring the one and only Beyonce. Still finding it difficult to muster up the appropriate vocabulary to describe that night. “Mindblowing”, “spectacular” and “insane” spring to mind. Before the show at the LG Arena, we went to the Bullring shopping centre for a short shopping excursion… Mainly because I knew they had a Cos and so I tactically “suggested” to my parents that we should find something to eat there. Of course I couldn’t go into Cos and not buy anything so I came out with a little something. The nude belt that I’ve been coveting for like, ever.

So then we headed to the arena where the atmosphere was thick with excitement! Beyonce came on promptly at 9pm to perform for two hours of pure energetic FLAWLESSNESS. She told us just before singing “Flaws and All” that she had a really bad sore throat and that she didn’t feel great, but you couldn’t hear it when she sang, her showmanship and professionalism was outstanding. I would have paid double the price I did to see that show again. I literally can’t say enough good things about the whole night.

Day two: The O2 Arena, London for P!nk where I had probably the most amazing meal I’ve ever had in TGI Friday’s….

Time for Pink! She was also incredible, her voice is perfect and her fitness level is INSANE. Those tricks she does with the acrobatics.. Amazing! Most of the time she’s not attatched to anything either which is what makes you realise her physical strength.

So my weekend was crazy busy travelling up and down the country, also very tiring, but it was SOOOO worth it. I had such a brilliant time and the only flaw is that I can’t relive it. I now have two much-needed days off work, hopefully checking out the new Inglot store that has just opened in Cambridge which I can’t wait for!
