BEGINNINGS OF A SHOE HEAVEN

I finally got around to properly clearing out my shoes, I’ve now narrowed my collection to a measly 41 pairs. 41 may not seem like too much for a shoe-obsessed fashion student, but lo and behold, I ran out of space anyway. I’ve decided to rearrange and make use of the wasted space on my Billy bookcases from Ikea in order to store many of my all-black shoes.

No doubt within a few months I’ll need to buy a whole new shelving system rearrange my shelves some more in order to accommodate some obviously much needed new feet cases.

NEW IN: ZARA SHOES

My Zara obsession continues…. I didn’t intend on buying anything when I went into Zara last week; but as we all know, Zara and temptation go hand in hand. I saw these shoes and fell in love. The slightly stacked heel is a comfortable height and i love the mirrored ankle strap. I have a problem with ankle straps as I’m only 5’1 so they tend to make my legs look too short or chunky but the mirrored strap on these completely hides that. And the best part? They were only £19.99. Can you believe that?!

CINCO DE MAYO & MY DRESSING TABLE

Can you believe it’s already 5 days into May? I was just getting used to the idea of April and then May came along and punched me in the face. Almost half way through the year and I feel older by the second. I moved home from uni this week and after much (and I really mean much) effort in packing two cars full of my belongings, I came back home where I realised nothing had a place in my room anymore. My clothes had nowhere to go, my shoes were lined up around the edge of the room and the makeup…. Ah the makeup. Makeup is my weakness, my guilty pleasure. No matter how many times my mum will try to convince me otherwise, there is always a need for nine shades of red lipstick right? Right?!

Having grossly misjudged my hoarding capabilities, I finally decided to sort out my (life) makeup once and for all, the results of which are shown below. All I can say is, all hail Muji and Home Sense.

Image

Makeup brush holder is actually a small plant pot from IKEA, brushes are mostly Real Techniques (all are dirty, been putting it off), acrylic drawer set from Muji, glass jar filled with cotton pads from IKEA and metal and glass container for single eyeshadows from Home Sense.

Mirror from IKEA, glass container for lip liners and lip glosses from Home Sense.

Muji acrylic drawer set, perfect for storing all of my MAC lipsticks.

The bottom drawer of the set has a jewellery divider. I swear Muji is the best thing to happen to makeup/jewellery hoarders like myself.

The glass container that I keep some of my cream and single eyeshadows in, it was something crazy like £5.99 in Home Sense.

Rather a lot of makeup. I have another set of drawers underneath this unit that hold all my eyeshadow palettes, perfumes, skincare and haircare.

TEX SAVERIO A/W14 PARIS FASHION WEEK

DSC_0113

I attended the Tex Saverio show in Paris on Tuesday after what felt like a million hours of travelling, but boy what a day it turned out to be. After waking up at 5am to catch a train, tube and finally the Eurostar, we arrived in Paris. First stop, the nearest café to the Gare du Nord we could find to eat as many crépes au sucre we could manage.

After much discussion in poor broken French with a taxi driver, we finally established where we wanted to be, the show’s venue the Automobile Club de France on the Place de la Concorde, just a short walk from the Champs Elysées. The show started at 2pm local time and was just as enchanting as was expected from a Tex Saverio collection. The only difference for me was being able to see it up close and be able to capture, first hand, the intricate detailing and shimmering fabrics Saverio is known for.

With a palette strictly of black and gold, the collection consisted of the use of rich decadent fabrics detailed with intricate bedding a laser-cut detailing. The ornate head pieces glittered under the spotlights, an aspect which cannot be transcribed through photos, as with the glittering gowns.

Hair and makeup was kept simple and pared back, letting the clothing speak for themselves. The 7-inch platform shoes with backwards-curved heels added another other-wordly quality, much reminiscent of McQueen. This being Saverio’s second ready-to-wear collection, I think it definitely seals his place on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, proof of what a success he is as an up-and-coming designer and a true sign of his accomplishments to come.

MY MCQUEEN LEGGINGS.

So this week, this arrived in the post:

I decided to make the most of my birthday money and the mid-season sales and bought myself some McQ leggings. I bought the Iris Mirror print leggings and they. are. fab. They really are.

There’s one teeny weeny gripe with them… They’re slightly on the bigger side, just very slightly. I can still wear them and as long as I keep my butt covered it isn’t noticeable at all. I think they’re perfect.

This is me wearing them. I’ve paired them with my Zara shoes and a tuxedo blazer from Zara which I bought yesterday with 70% off.

Aren’t the leggings fab?!
