JONATHAN SIMKHAI S/S15 #NYFW

IMG_6490.JPG
Finally! A collection I can get my teeth into. Jonathan Simkhai. Inspired by broken glass, infusing geometric-patchwork-netting (that’s a thing) with my favourite hues of black and white make for a highlight (so far) of NYFW.

WISHING ON A SUNDAY…

I feel like a whole big chunk of my life is made up of wishlists. Wishlists for clothing. Wishlists for travel. Wishlists for food. Wishlists for pretty much every aspect of life that I am yet to have. Avenue 32 asked me to create a wishlist of items I love the most on their website, so I thought that on this fine Sunday, I would bring you said list.

My student loan will be a no-show once I’ve got my hands on that Jerome Dreyfuss bag. SJP is apparently a fan and that’s enough for me. And let’s face it, there’s no need to convince me to buy anything from J Brand.

AVENUE32

NECKLACE // EDDIE BORGO
SHIRT // VIVETTA
DRESS // EUDON CHOI
LEGGINGS // J BRAND
BAG // JEROME DREYFUSS
SLIP-ONS // JOSHUA SANDERS

So basically, Avenue 32 is where I’ve spent the past hour wishing, however some of these items are just a bit too nice not to make that wish into a reality, right? And I pinned that Eudon Choi dress a while back (Pinterest being my main source for wishing) and now I’ve found it Avenue 32…..

On a side note, I’ve been following Ascia of The Hybrids blog for over a year now and back in February she posted this  on the blog, an outfit featuring the Joshua Sanders slip-ons, and don’t they look divine?! Ascia calls them her mermaid shoes and I couldn’t think of a better name.

Well I know where my next pay check will be heading.

RUNWAY RAPTURE: SPRING/SUMMER WHITE

White is the colour of Spring and Summer and probably always will be. There’s something so chic, charming, cold, warm, and eternal about white that is so classic and will never date. White for Spring/Summer was prominent on the catwalks back in September; with KTZ‘s layers, A.F. Vandevorst‘s grubby chic, girlish lace at Elie Saab, and otherworldly dimensions at Gareth Pugh.

MY SPRING/SUMMER WISHLIST

Summer is here (although the grey clouds and low temperatures here in England suggest otherwise) which means it’s time to revamp our Winter wardrobes – If you live in most other countries you would’ve done this months ago, but this is the land where Spring and Autumn do not exist; the months simply seem to have no definition. Below are my top picks for Spring and Summer – I am absolutely loving the new collection from & Other Stories, I want every single piece!

CINCO DE MAYO & MY DRESSING TABLE

Can you believe it’s already 5 days into May? I was just getting used to the idea of April and then May came along and punched me in the face. Almost half way through the year and I feel older by the second. I moved home from uni this week and after much (and I really mean much) effort in packing two cars full of my belongings, I came back home where I realised nothing had a place in my room anymore. My clothes had nowhere to go, my shoes were lined up around the edge of the room and the makeup…. Ah the makeup. Makeup is my weakness, my guilty pleasure. No matter how many times my mum will try to convince me otherwise, there is always a need for nine shades of red lipstick right? Right?!

Having grossly misjudged my hoarding capabilities, I finally decided to sort out my (life) makeup once and for all, the results of which are shown below. All I can say is, all hail Muji and Home Sense.

Image

Makeup brush holder is actually a small plant pot from IKEA, brushes are mostly Real Techniques (all are dirty, been putting it off), acrylic drawer set from Muji, glass jar filled with cotton pads from IKEA and metal and glass container for single eyeshadows from Home Sense.

Mirror from IKEA, glass container for lip liners and lip glosses from Home Sense.

Muji acrylic drawer set, perfect for storing all of my MAC lipsticks.

The bottom drawer of the set has a jewellery divider. I swear Muji is the best thing to happen to makeup/jewellery hoarders like myself.

The glass container that I keep some of my cream and single eyeshadows in, it was something crazy like £5.99 in Home Sense.

Rather a lot of makeup. I have another set of drawers underneath this unit that hold all my eyeshadow palettes, perfumes, skincare and haircare.

Top row: [left] selfie just before #BLFW [centre] my meal before #BLFW looked more amazing on camera than it did in real life! [right] Meeting Sue Kreitzman for a uni project! There’ll be more about that later on my blog!                                                                     Middle row: [left] Found this on Pinterest, are they just gorgeous?! [centre] I want a black bathroom like this. [right] Spring/Summer is finally making a slight appearance here in the UK, but I’d love to be whisked away to wherever this is.                                                             Bottom row: [left] I bought the Benefit Gimme Brow and Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation which is incredible. NEW IN: MONOCHROME KARDASHIAN ENSEMBLE

Whilst my dwindling bank balance dwindles into an oblivion, I thought I’d share an outfit that I recently purchased that helped dwindle away my bank balance. This top and skirt duo are from H&M as part of their Spring collection, and whilst the whole crop-top-and-pencil-skirt thing is all very Kardashian-esque I decided to buy into the trend. Despite it “officially” being Spring, the weather outside is still freezing coat-scarf-boots weather so I don’t think I’ll be wearing this outfit until perhaps July (let’s hope not), but at least that gives me enough time to perfect my currently non-existant abs in preparation for the belly-baring ensemble.

STYLE REFRESH: MESSY BOB

I am not one to be precious of my hair and never have been. My hair has been long(ish), bleached to within an inch of its life, pixie-cut short, darker brown, ombre-blonde, and one (or ahem, a few) case of (unintentional) orange.

As the mercury creeps up the thermometer and us Brits tempt fate by leaving the house without a (gasp!) coat, I suddenly decide I am once again bored with my current hairstyle. Apart from the pixie-crop, my hair has been in every one of those states listed above in the past year and I am about to change it again.

In time for Spring/Summer, I’d like a modern-messy-blonde-bob, with bleach highlights. I know, I know, whenever anyone mentions the word bleach the hair nazi’s come out in full force giving you the “you’ll fry your hair!!!” spiel. Like I said before I’m not precious about my hair. It’s just hair, it’ll grow back.

Below are my hair inspirations…. My original inspiration came from Instagram user chrisspy who’s selfie below I adorrrrrrrre.
